Soba noodle on a roof tile

Buchi(ぶち) is an izakaya restaurant in Shirokane-Takanawa(白金高輪), a residential area nearby Roppongi. Its special menu is Kawara-Soba(瓦そば) at JPY1,000.

Boiled Japanese soba noodle is put on a heated kawara(瓦) plate and topped with sliced egg omelet and seasoned beef. Kawara(瓦) is a Japan’s original roof tile. In Yamaguchi prefecture, people use the tile as a hot plate. Lying on the hot plate, the soba noodle gets a crispy texture. You dip the noodle in soy sauce based dash soup.

The restaurant has a lot of a la carte menu. Despite its location, the pricing of menu is very reasonable; a la carte menu starts from only JPY300! Total budget is JPY5,000 per person.
